West Liberty, Iowa Russell James Garner, 55, died suddenly Wednesday March 3, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday March 7, 2010 at the West Liberty Community Center. Visitation will be held Sunday from 11 A.M. until 2 P.M. at the Community Center. A memorial fund has been established. Russell James was born June 3, 1954 in Aledo, Illinois the son of John and Nell Ware Garner. On May 28, 1977 he was united in marriage to Ellen McGarrah at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty. He had been employed with the City of West Liberty for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Ellen Garner of West Liberty. Three daughters: Paula Marie (Riley) Millage of Ottumwa, Theresa Woodford of West Liberty and Lisa (Joe) Beverlin of Wilton. Two sons: Russell (Rachel) Flurry Jr. of New Boston, Texas and James (Carrie Mitchell) Garner of Aledo, Illinois. His mother: Nell Conklin of West Liberty. Two Sisters: Luann (Fred Terwilliger) Shelton of New Boston, Illinois and Dianne (Charles) Reinhart of Stockton, California. Three Brothers: Charles (Carol) Garner of Wilton, David (Lois) Garner of Muscatine and Ronald (Barbara) Garner of Reading, California. 16 grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his father John, step father Roy Conklin, brother John and a granddaughter Erica Woodford.
