West Branch, Iowa Ronald Rae Rood, 83, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Crestview Care Center in West Branch. Private family services will be held in the Downey Cemetery. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements. Ronald was born October 1, 1932 in Iowa City the son of Huber and Elsie Holub Rood. On September 7, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dot Kintz in Iowa City. He had owned and operated Ron’s Gun and Antique Shop in West Branch for 35 years and drove a school bus for the West Branch Community for 41 years. Ron was an avid collector of many things. He is survived by his wife Dot of West Branch. Two children: Randy (Norma) Rood of Springdale and Becky (Randy) Oaks of Downey. 6 Grandchildren: Shannon (Jen), Maria (Sparky), Bryan (Tammy), Rob (Kristin), Ryan (Tanya) and Justin. 12 great grandchildren: Ryland, Joshua, Caylee, Abby, Sophie, Jalynn, Maddie, Dani, Rowdy, Ryker, Rayce and Gracie. His brother Gary Rood of Davenport and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
