Alfred Lee Wilson, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 3 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12 to 3 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Alfred was born January 2, 1930 the son of Cecil and Clara Noss Wilson in Galena, Oklahoma. On May 12, 1956 he was married to MaryLou Marvin Dubuque, Iowa. He had served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Early in his career he had worked as a Electronics Technician for Boeing before moving to Oklahoma City where he began training to work with the FAA. His work with the FAA took him to Lincoln, Nebraska and a 6 month stay in West Liberty requested by the FAA ended in his retirement in 1982 after 31 1/2 years. He later worked for several years with Rohpak in West Liberty.
He enjoyed bowling, genealogy, rock hunting, especially for geodes, watching his grandchildren at their horse shows and dog sitting for Delilah.
He is survived by one daughter Lucinda “Cindy” Wilson of West Liberty, one son: Anthony Wilson of Lansing, Kansas, daughter in laws: Robin Wilson of Muscatine and Jana Wilson-Vahle of Lincoln, Nebraska. 12 grandchildren: Bethany Lyn, Rachael Anne, Lynn Marie, twins; Kathleen and Andrew, Anthony Lee II, Rose Marie, Dakotah Ryan, Christina Lynn, twins: Tiffany Dawn and Stephany Dyan, Kimberly Rae and 8 great grandchildren. A sister Dolly Neasham of Belt, Montana also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife MaryLou, two sons Timothy and Michael, brothers: Hiram, Levi, Charles and Alvin.
