Nichols, Iowa D. Tillie Turner, 78, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 4, 2016 at the West Liberty Community Center. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Nichols First Responders or West Liberty Rescue Unit. Darlene Matilda Freeborn was born July 9, 1937 in Montezuma, Iowa the daughter of Loyd and Cora (Clinkenbeard) Freeborn. She was a graduate of Montezuma High School in the Class of 1955. In 1957 she was united in marriage to Don Turner in Montezuma, they later divorced and remained friends. Tillie had been employed at West Liberty Foods for 42 years. She enjoyed the outdoors; her dogs, horses, boating and camping, also enjoyed traveling abroad with a friend, sewing, cooking and dancing. She is survived by her two daughters: Kim Turner of Nichols and Karla Ehrler of Davenport, sister Eloise Lender of Rockford, Illinois and the father of her children Don Turner of West Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene and Russell Freeborn, sister Virginia Blackwell, and a son in law Steve Ehrler.
