West Liberty, Iowa Velma Ruth Morrison, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, October 16, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, 113 E. Fifth Street, West Liberty. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Church. Velma was born October 8, 1927 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Buffum) Druhl. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School in the Class of 1945. On November 13, 1946 she was united in marriage to Harold “Sam” Morrison in Davenport. The couple farmed in the West Liberty area for many years. She was a member of the West Liberty Country Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Velma enjoyed getting together with her sisters, playing cards and attending the grandchildren’s activities. Survivors include her husband Sam of West Liberty. Six children: Larry (Connie) Morrison, Kenny (Sue) Morrison, Roger (Heidi) Morrison all of West Liberty, Rosemary Strohbehn of Davenport, Sharon (Bill) Wilson of Atalissa and Becky (Ernie) Todd of Iowa City. 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, two sisters: Viola Levetzow of Wilton and Bonnie (Jerry) Van Loon of Long Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bob, daughter-in-law Missy, great grandson Weston, two brothers John and Ralph and three sisters Dorothy, Irene and Gertrude.
