June C. Brand, 89, died Friday January 22, 2010 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday January 26, 2010 at the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church, rural West Liberty. Visitation will held Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. June was born June 14, 1920 at Durant the daughter of Oakley and Grace Collier. She was a graduate of Durant High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught country school for several years. On June 28, 1944 she was united in marriage to Robert Brand in Durant. She was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church and U.M.W. and was active in the Cedar Valley Community. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed working outdoors and doing whatever she could to help others. Survivors include two sons: Robert Dean (Rosalind) Brand of Mitchellville and Richard Collier Brand of West Liberty. Seven grandchildren: Russell (Dee) Brand of Davenport, Roger (Jennifer) Brand of Riverside, Rachel (Robert) Harding of Nichols, Michael (Angela) Brand of Bettendorf, Aaron (Jennifer) Brand of Noblesville, Indiana, Brian (Jill) Brand of State Center and Jonathan (Meghan) Brand of Ames. 11 great grandchildren also survive. Brother: G. Warren (Miriam) Collier of Durant. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, an infant sister and infant grandson.
