Nichols, Iowa Eleanor K. (Borgstadt) Peterson, 87, of Safford, Arizona and formerly of Nichols passed away on December 12, 2009. Eleanor was born on December 7, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to Fred and Edna Thomas. She attended the nursing program at Broadlawns in Des Moines where she received her nursing degree. Eleanor served as a nursing cadet in World War II. Eleanor met and married Robert Borgstadt in Des Moines, Iowa on December 14, 1944. They were blessed with 3 children; Andrea, John, and Tom. They moved to Arizona in 1957 with their family and lived in the Gila Valley since 1970. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Safford and the Emblem club of Safford. Eleanor loved to spend her time with her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Andrea (Richard) Burton, John (Michelle) Borgstadt, Tom Borgstadt, brother; Lewis Thomas of Troy Missouri, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Borgstadt, parents; Fred and Edna Thomas, siblings; Richard Thomas, Shirley Lamb. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 P.M. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Christian Church in Nichols with viewing 1 hour prior. Interment will be in the Nichols Cemetery. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nichols Christian Church.
