We are so sorry we could not attend services for Leota. I am recovering from knee surgery. We had not seen Leota for several years, but will always remember her kindness and sense of humor. My brother and I always enjoyed our visits to see aunt Leota and uncle Charlie! Our sympathies to the entire Nortman family. Dave & Renee Siders

I had the pleasure of being in Leota and Charlie's home many times when I spent summers in West Liberty with my grandparents. There was always a big meal, lots of visiting, and a card game (usually 'kings in the corners' so that the kids could play). As an only child, the Nortman family overwhelmed me, but I admired Leota's dedication to her family. She was a strong woman. I send my deepest sympathy to all the Nortmans.

Dear Nortman Cousins,
It's hard to say goodbye, always, but 92 isn't too shabby now, is it.
I have a postcard that was written by my sister, Mandi, to my mother, Gerti, who was in the hospital and had just given birth to me, the youngest Anderson. The date on the card is June 16, 1955. In the card Mandi is expressing delight(?) in the arrival of another sister and asking that I be named Teresa Anne (I'm pretty sure there was no girl's name picked out as we all know Gerti wanted a boy and his name was going to be Thomas Gerard, and they were going to call him Jerry!). The card then ended with, "Aunt Leota brought us some green beans." Somehow I always chuckle when I read that card, since apparently the green beans were as significant as my birth!
I'm sorry I'm not able to attend the services this weekend, but my thoughts are with you all.

To the entire Nortman family, our condolences. We will always remember your Mother on the golf course. You didn't get gimmy's! She was a good woman and you are all a tribute to the great job she did as a Mother. That is a beautiful picture too. Our prayers are with you all.

Sorry we can't be there for the service, but know that both Bob and I are thinking of all of you. I have many, many great memories of the Nortmans and always enjoyed the many Leota stories. She was such a great character.

The beautiful picture and biography are a tribute to a woman who so loved her family. It is easy to picture Charlie sitting in the clubhouse waiting for his sweetie to tee off on Heaven's best course. Blessings to your family as you celebrate Leota's 92 wonderful years on Earth.

Mom,
What a day we had today. I am happy that Mary and I were there to see you off on the trip you've been wanting to take for such a long time. I hope you arrived safely and got a round of golf in with dad. I miss you already. Do you need a sack?
Love, Harriet
