Ione Mitchell, 97, formerly of West Liberty passed away on November 1, 2009 at Banner Gardens Hospice in Mesa, Arizona.
Memorial services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunshine Acres Children’s Home.
Born Margaret Ione Johnson on September 3, 1912, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of W.T. and Stella Lahmon Johnson. Ione was educated in Mechanicsville, Iowa and graduated in 1931 in West Liberty, Iowa.
In 1938 she married Gene Mitchell and was a resident of West Liberty until retirement from the Gene Mitchell Trucking Company in 1976. They then moved to Mesa, AZ where she lived out her life.
Ione is survived by her husband Gene and is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
