Delores was a kind neighbor who held a meet and greet in her garage in warm weather and always had a treat for the neighborhood dogs. To this day, my dog still stops briefly or looks to the garage door for her treat!

To the family of Delores-I am so sorry for your loss. I was sad to see that she had passed, as I was just thinking about her yesterday. Delores lived across the street from my mom on Notting Hill Ln. There were many summer evenings of them sitting in the garage in their lawn chairs, visiting and petting the dogs that stopped for a treat. Delores was one of the kindest women I’ve ever met. She always had a smile on her face, and was always very welcoming. I stopped to visit her a few times after my mom moved, and she always asked about her. She was a wonderful friend to Donna as well. I hope that your memories will comfort you in the days ahead. Celebrate the life of this great lady!

Al and Delores, great friends and neighbors to Gen and Ardell Jacobsen. I was little but remember my parents explaining to me that I would be in bed and they would leave for a bit to “shivaree” the newly wed couple! Then the time they were at our house visiting when Jimmy, running, dropping to his knees to slide on newspapers and slid head first into the cast iron radiator! I will never forget Al crossing the room in two steps, scooping Jim up in his arms, Dee standing up and off they went to ER in IC. Then I wonder how many gallons of gas Dee and my mom burned going IC shopping?! It was their regular activity! Lastly your moms constant friendship and hospitality to my mom and I when we came to visit in the summers. Then, lastly, my mom in the throes of Alzheimer’s and your mom, taking me aside to tell me she understood if I didn’t bring my mom back to Iowa anymore.
