Luis F. Castillo Cardenas

1/21/58 - 6/20/24

Luis F. Castillo Cardenas

1/21/58 - 6/20/24

He was born in eternal spring, in the country also known as Guatemala.

Then his migratory journey brought him to the state of Iowa where he dropped anchor and made himself his residence. Luis had an appreciation for the sea given his roots as a fisherman, not to mention that he was a soccer lover. In his church known as “Brother Luis” for more than 30 years he faithfully served as a pillar in the work offering his time and passion for souls as an usher and also as president of the men's ministry. He realizes that everything he had he had received by grace, likewise he extended his compassion towards the homeless, drug addicts and sometimes ministering in prisons. His missionary journeys led him to give bread to the hungry in Nicaragua and Panama. Luis had a heart of gold.

But his greatest and most honorable compliment was to his great love Patricia Castillo with whom he married and shared his last name for 27 years. In addition to his wife, Luis survives 5 sons, a daughter and 6 grandchildren to whom he left the most important legacy of loving one's neighbor. This is how we will remember him, like a man I love
