My name is Heriberto Torres Cappa, I am from Puerto Rico and I arrived here in Iowa approximately 4 years ago and I have to say that getting a job was difficult because of the English language, but one day by chance I met Don David and he was like a man sent for God. He gave me the opportunity to work for him with his trucks and it was a good experience for me. Don David was a very good person, an excellent human being, and I am sad to know that he is no longer with us, but I have very good memories of the time we shared. Rest in peace

David rented farm land from my father the late James Batchelor and they often visited with each other even after my father moved to assisted living. They were good friends and David was always a good tenet. We remember the harvested corn going into Cap'nCrunch.

Wishing all of David’s family and friends heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. I was fortunate enough to work with David over the last year. I’ll never forget the first phone call I ever made to him. I think we talked for two hours. He would always tell me “I’m just kind of an old boy.” He was a good man. Will truly be missed.

We are devastated over the loss of David. He was a wonderful person that was full of fun, friendship and love. He always took care of his family and friends before thinking of himself. (I do not know who I will now be able to call when Jim gets sick and I need a listening, caring friend as Dave was always here for me.) The Celebration of Life for Dave was beautiful as he was placed in his final resting place. God took him too soon but as the quote says "God needed a farmer" and he got a great one when he called Dave.

Dave has been my best friend since we met in college many years ago. We have been through the many joys that life holds, and have helped each other through the sadness and the lows as well.
Picture one was a ski trip to Colorado, then Dave at my wedding in July, 2022. He and I escaped a bad time in my life going to Chile for a few weeks . We experienced the mountains at sunrise and the ocean for sunset, all in the same day. We traveled to Italy together, France, and many other countries. His love for newness and travel was second to none.
When I needed his advice he gave it. When I needed his support he threw all of it he had to me and then some. We could talk till sunrise one day laughing and happy with all life brought us. Then we also sat together quietly with tears in our eyes, suffering through the trials and sadness that life can bring as well.
He was my brother, he was my friend, he was whom I wanted to act more like, think more like, and BE more like!
I will never forget David, I will hold him in my thoughts, my memories, and in my heart forever! So long for now my dearest friend, I will see you soon.
