Obituary of Thi Lothi

Thi Lothi, 88, of Menefee, CA, passed away on September, 20th,  2023, at her home in California. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family.  

Born on January 8^th, 1935 in Sonla, Vietnam, she immigrated to the United States in 1980 and live in Nichols, IA until she moved to Iowa City in 2018.  In 2022, Thi moved to California.

Thi is preceeded death by her husband Son Cavanh and grandson Gary Quang.

She is survived by eight children, seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They include daughter Pom Quang (husband Vieng), son Boun Cavanh (wife Bounmy), daughter My Cathi, daughter Ma Cathi, daughter Deng Baccam (husband Sam), son Bolo Cavanh (wife Melissa), son Chan Cavanh (wife Laurie), and son Somkhith Cavanh; grandchildren: Nancy Craun, Cindy Quang, Jenny Quang, Bouny Cavanh, Noy Grady, Andy Quangvan, Nicholas Quangvan, Anthony Baccam, Cory Baccam, Bryan Baccam, Zachery Baccam, Kawika Cavanh, Kaipo Cavanh, Kaylee Cavanh, Taylor Cavanh, Brooke Cavanh, Tyson Cavanh; great grandchildren Jonathan Quang, Nathan Quangvan, Ellie Quangvan, Kaylee Dipple, Charley Grady, Lorelai Cavanh and Pomaikai Cavanh.

Thi was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of witty sarcastic humor. She was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all her life experiences.  At the age of 10, Thi and her two sister siblings (one younger, one older) ran with their mother up the Vietnam mountain side to escape communist execution. Her hardship and today’s hardship is not the same.  Her presence will be missed by those whose lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Nichols United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Thi and her family.
