Lanesboro, Iowa
Phillip Doyle Bushman, 82, passed away Saturday April 22, 2023 at the Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, Iowa. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery, rural Ralston. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Lanesboro.
Memorials may be made to the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.
Phillip was born May 3, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa the son of Earl and Dorothy (Vermillion) Bushman. He was a graduate of Glidden High School in the Class of 1958. On June 30, 1962 he was united in marriage to Gayle Cochran at the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.
He had been employed for many years as the manager at Rolean Asphalt in Carroll. Following his retirement he and Gayle moved from Glidden to Lanesboro to make their home where he enjoyed delivering newspapers on his bike and was busy mowing lawns. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, rodeos/horses, fishing and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gayle, the love of his life of West Branch, two children: Kent (Chris) Bushman of LaVista, Nebraska and Chris (Cathy Steen) Bushman of West Branch. Grandchildren: Courtney (Richard) Cash of Bellevue, Nebraska, Elizabeth Baumhover of Iowa City, Stephanie Baumhover of Cedar Rapids and Kevin (Holly) Baumhover of Frankfort, Kentucky. Great Grandchildren: Charlotte, Kenzleigh and Jackson Cash, Jayden and Zachary Kempker, and Jorja Baumhover. Two sisters: Ellisa Wenck of Knoxville, TN, Juanita (Rich) Wenck of Lidderdale, Iowa and a brother Marvin (Cecelia) Bushman of Cleveland, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Norman.
