LeRoy "Lee" Nick Crook, 71, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017.

A memorial mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty IA. Following the mass, a visitation and time of fellowship will be held in the Parish Life Center (north side of the church, using the East and West doors) from 11 to 2 PM.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 P.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Round Barn Lodge, E 4830 US 14, Spring Green, Wisconsin.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is assisting the family with the arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the West Liberty Fire Department.

 

Lee was born December 17, 1945 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin,  the son of Virgil and Alice (Meyer) Crook. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. On September 7, 1970 he was united in marriage to Carol M. Needham.  Lee served in the US Army stationed in Germany from 1966-68.

He had been employed with Oscar Mayer in Madison WI and Perry IA, later Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty and most recently NSF International in Ann Arbor MI.

Lee had great love for his family and this was most important to him.  He and his wife,  Carol  have traveled to 49 states, Europe and Canada.  Lee enjoyed vacationing with his family and grandchildren. He was well known as "Tom" with Tender Tom's Turkey on RAGBRAI for 30 years. He was BIG at heart and loved sharing and making memories with so many family and friends.  Lee was an avid fisherman, pheasant hunter and had a great appreciation for the outdoors.  Lee was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #509.

Survivors include his wife Carol, son Brian (Toni) Crook of West Liberty, three grandchildren: Jessica, Olivia and Josh. Siblings: Donna Hopkins of Spring Green WI,  Marie (Earl) Murphy of Mt. Horeb WI,  Albert (Karen) Crook of Palatine IL,  DuWayne (Colleen) Crook of Jackson Hole WY, Marilyn (Irv) von Allmen of Dodgeville WI, James Crook of Lone Rock WI, Howard (Kathy) Crook of Fitchburg WI, and Melvin (Karen) Crook of Merrimac WI. Brother-in-law Charlie Van Fossen and many nieces, nephews and relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant grandchildren, Emily and Justin, siblings Edward Crook,  JoAnne Van Fossen, sister-in-law Doris Crook and brother-in-law Bill Hopkins.
