Obituary of Marilyn V. McKillip

Marilyn V. McKillip, 90, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

 

Graveside services will be held 10:30 Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Overman Cemetery, Atalissa. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Department at the Simpson Memorial Home. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Marilyn and her family.

 

She was born February 14, 1934 in Scott County, Iowa the daughter of Loraine and Emma (Engler) Voss.  She was a graduate of Durant High School in the Class of 1952. On February 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to William McKillip, they later divorced.

 

Marilyn had been employed with Snider’s Furniture and Gifts in West Liberty and most recently in the Dietary Department at the Simpson Memorial Home for 30 years until her retirement.


She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and was active in preparing a monthly meal at the Iowa City Homeless Shelter. Marilyn enjoyed playing cards, gambling, embroidery, walking and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

 

She is survived by four children: Deb (Ron) Simpson of West Liberty, Craig (Karla) McKillip Wilton, Scott (Julie) McKillip of West Liberty and Joe (Susan) McKillip of Atalissa, 16 grandchildren and 37great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Edwin (Connie) Voss of Durant. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband William and a grandson Mike.
