Visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10:00 A.M-12:00 with a celebration of life service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty. Following the service and luncheon, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Emily Geertz, 1118 North Walnut Street, West Liberty.

Private family inurnment will be held in the North Prairie Cemetery.

 

Mary Susan Dettwiler Meyer, 62, of Holden Missouri, passed away at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by family on December 25th, 2023.

She was born in West Liberty, Iowa in 1961 to Harold and Mary Frances Dettwiler. Susan attended West Liberty High School in Iowa before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. Susan was most proud of her role as a caretaker and mother. Susan also enjoyed volunteering at her children’s schools, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and many other organizations. Susan enjoyed spending time with pets, baking, gardening, traveling, and being outdoors on her acreage in Holden, Missouri. Susan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri for many years.

Susan is survived by a son, Kyle Meyer, Kansas City, Missouri, daughter Kayla Meyer (Josh Rice), Overland Park, Kansas, daughter Allison Meyer (Jared Murray), Raytown, Missouri, and daughter Dana Meyer, Mission, Kansas.  She is also survived by her brother Johnny Dettwiler of Conroe, Texas, and sister Kathy Courtois (Brian) in Iowa City, Iowa. Susan is also survived by her close friend Davin Phillips from Olathe, Kansas, and her children, Mailey, Kaylen, Teather, and Declan.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Dettwiler and Mary Frances Dettwiler, her brother Harold “Buzzy” Dettwiler and his wife Jodi Dettwiler, and her sister-in-law Renee Dettwiler. 

Donations to Old Drum Animal Shelter in Warrensburg, Missouri would be appreciated.
