Obituary of Charles Fredrick Andrews

Charles Fredrick Andrews D.O., 90, a resident of Grand Living at Bridgewater, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch, following a brief illness.

A service remembering Charles will be held at a later date.

Charles Fredrick Andrews was born December 30, 1932 in Villa Grove, Illinois the son of Charles Cletus and Clara Marguerite (Bocock) Andrews. He was a graduate of Villa Grove High School, Illinois Wesleyan University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Upon completion of his residency in Davenport, he moved to Tucson, Arizona before moving back to Davenport where he spent most of his medical career before retiring in 1994.

On March 3, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Ditmars, she passed away in 1983. He later married Chantal Laurent June 14, 1985, she passed away in 2016. Following his retirement in 1994 he moved to Ridgecrest, California where he enjoyed cooking, traveling, doing pottery and learning Spanish. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Ridgecrest and became a member of New Song Episcopal Church in Coralville.

He is survived by two children: Kathryn (James) Allen of Rock Island, Illinois and Michael (Jana) Andrews, seven grandchildren: Amber Allen, David Allen, Ian Andrews, Dale Cloutier, Sara Cloutier, Cianna Cloutier and Hailey Simonek and one great grandson Bodhi Allen. Two sisters: Donna Mitsdarffer of Warrensburg, Missouri and Linda (Steve) Morrison of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives: Mary and Chantal, son Mark and two sisters: Brenda and Phyllis.
