Obituary of Mary Martha Stoessel

Mary Martha Stoessel, 92, passed away Tuesday evening, September 19, 2017 at Brown Deer Assisted Living in Coralville.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Sisters of Humility, 820 W. Central Park Ave. Davenport, Iowa 52804 or Care Initiatives Hospice, 3720 Queen Court SW, Suite 9,  Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404.

Mary Martha was born July 29, 1925 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Nellie May Hawks. On November 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Francis T. Stoessel in Ottumwa. She was  a graduate of Ottumwa Heights Jr. College and was active in her church and the Republican Part in Wapello, Cedar and Johnson Counties.

She is survived by four children: Stephanie  of St. Paul, Minn., Connie (Jack Spring) of Oro Valley, AZ Timothy (Donna) Stoessel  Woodbridge, VA and  Gregory of Clive, Iowa. Five Grandchildren: Aaron, Jennie, Neil, Kimberly and Scott one great grandchild, Avery Stoessel.  Preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis.
