Micheal Anthony Martin-Stites, 30, of West Branch, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home after a lifelong battle with asthma.

Visitation will be held 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. May 23, 2026 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch with funeral services immdeiately following at 11:30. Burial will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery in Lone Tree, Iowa, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at 1830 Timber Hills Drive, Coralville hosted by the Baum Family. 

Micheal was born March 9, 1996, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Jonathan Martin (Johnston) and Nicolette Stites. He graduated from Iowa City West High School in 2014 and later pursued his bachelor’s degree through the University of Iowa. Michael had been working toward his goal of becoming an electrician.

Mike’s whole life centered around his family. He loved deeply and treasured being a father to his two children. In his free time, Mike enjoyed playing and competing in Rocket League with his friends and built many meaningful friendships through the gaming community.

Micheal is survived by his soulmate, Danyale Edwards; his beloved children, Eleanor and Ezra; his mother and stepfather, Nicolette and Todd Woodburn; his siblings, Jude Woodburn and Samantha Weiss; his maternal grandmother, Janice Stites; paternal grandmother, Tami Johnston-Cook; grandfather, John Martin Sr. and his wife, Anita; great-grandfather, Nicholas Pleska; uncles Jim, Joe, Justin Johnston, and Nick Martin; and aunt Chrissy Tietz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jonathan Martin; and his great-grandparents, Herman and Elaine Martin and Saundra Pleska. 

The family asks that Michael be remembered for his kind heart, his humor, the love he had for his children, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
