Donald Everett Oxley, 95, of Iowa City and formerly of West Liberty, passed away March 17, 2026, at Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 Court Street, Iowa City, IA 52245, or to the West Liberty Fire and Ambulance.

Donald was born September 24, 1930, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the son of Lorin E. and Doris D. (Nusbaum) Oxley. He attended several country schools and later attended Nichols and West Liberty High School, graduating in 1948.

In 1951, Donald joined the United States Army and served with the 625th Field Artillery Battalion of the 40th Division during the Korean War.

Donald was a partner in the family’s purebred Angus and Hampshire farming operation for 24 years. He also worked for the West Liberty Creamery for many years and part-time selling automobiles at various dealerships throughout Muscatine County. He later worked for Walnut Grove Feed Company in West Liberty. In 1965, Donald began his career with the United States Postal Service as a clerk, eventually becoming a city carrier and later a rural carrier. He retired from the USPS in 1992.

Donald married Loletha J. Feldman on November 2, 1958, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty.

He is survived by his children, Dwight (Anne) Oxley of Coralville and Lacinda (Brent) Taplin of Solon; one grandson, William Oxley of Coralville; sister, Marilyn Hamilton of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Francis Robinson, Luetta Feldman, and Luella Feldman; as well as a nephew and several nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loletha, in 2019; his brother, Robert L. Oxley; and niece, Kris Oxley.
