Patricia Rose Wheeler, 86, formerly of West Branch, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from complications of a stroke.


A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 1 to 3 P.M. in the Theatre Room at The Summit of Coralville, 3 Russell Slade Road, Coralville, Iowa 52241. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at 3 P.M.


 


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in support of the Adult Facility Dog Program at University of Iowa Health Care.

Patricia Rose Daniels was born April 30, 1939 in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Dean E. and Mona M. (Danielson) Daniels. She was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1957. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and went on to teach in Washington, Kalona, and West Branch.


On December 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Wheeler in Council Bluffs. Pat also worked for the National Park Service as a ranger, serving as head of the interpretive division at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch. She was a member of the N.P.S. Midwest Regional Interpretive Skills Training Team.


Following her retirement from the Park Service, Pat and Jim moved to Osage Beach, Missouri. There, she continued her passion for sewing, specializing in custom doll clothes. For the past four years, Pat made her home at The Summit, Coralville, where she formed many friendships and stayed active in art, playing cards, and sewing activities.


She is survived by her three children: Robin Kay (Tim) Hennes of Oxford, Terri Lynn (Mark) Schuchard of Coralville, and Christopher Scott (Krista) Wheeler of Marion; seven grandchildren: Jordan (Jaymes) McAllister, Maria (Connor) Beelman, Cole (Morgan) Schuchard, Abigail Schuchard, Lauren Schuchard, Logan (Stefanie) Wheeler, and Paige (Greg Goodwin) Wheeler; five great-grandchildren: Adeline McAllister, Bennett McAllister, Zoe White, Zander White, and Isabel Schuchard; and three siblings: Mary (Dave) Daniels-Lee of Ocean Shores, Washington, Deanne (Gayle) Sandholm of Helena, Montana, and Ron (Linda) Daniels of Omaha, Nebraska.


She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim, in 2021.
