Gertrude Lucine Morrison

G. Lucine Morrison, 97, of West Branch passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at the University of Iowa Downtown Campus in Iowa City. 

Gertrude Lucine was born June 29, 1928, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Erlis and Martha Ida (Marner) Brenneman. She was united in marriage to Ted Morrison on June 12, 1953, at the First Mennonite Church in Iowa City, Iowa. Over the years she has worked in many settings: She was owner and operator of the West Branch Laundromat and Dry Cleaner through the 1970’s and 1980’s, University of Iowa Burge Hall dining room 1980’s-1990’s, and cooked at the West Branch Day Care Center until 2011. She enjoyed being an Avon lady for many years.

Her children include: son Rick Morrison of Longmont, Colorado, daughter Bev (Keith) Earley of Bulverde, TX and son Jeff (Debby) Morrison of West Branch, IA; eight grandchildren: Valerie, Kristen, Keith, Jon, Joe, Ben, Eric, and Matt; and ten great-grandchildren.

Preceding Lucine in death were her parents, husband: Ted, four brothers: Dayle, Glenn, Merle and Marlin Brenneman, and five sisters: Ollie Hershberger, Iona Swartzendruber, Wilma Yoder, Arlene Snyder, Leta Mae Schneider.

She spent the final years of her life at the Simpson Home in West Liberty.

Visitation will be held Friday, 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch with funeral service to be held immediately follow at 11:30. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery.
