Alejandra Contreras Rodriguez, 52, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated immediately following at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass and burial will take place at a later date in Santa Ana Maya, Michoacán, Mexico. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Alejandra and her family.

Alejandra was born August 13, 1973, in Mexico, the daughter of Zeferino A. Contreras Garcia and Ma. Ines Rodriguez Lopez. She was united in marriage to Saul Jacobo Benegas. For several years, she was employed at West Liberty Foods.

Alejandra was deeply devoted to her family and was very active in the care of her parents and her parents-in-law. She had a kind heart and a warm spirit and truly enjoyed making others smile.

She is survived by her husband, Saul; her parents, Zeferino Contreras Garcia and Ma. Ines Rodriguez Lopez; her brothers and sisters; nephews and nieces; cousins; parents-in-law; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many friends.
