Norma was born March 27, 1942, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Leota Moneymaker. On May 8, 1960, she was united in marriage to Calvin Flater at the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church in West Liberty.
She worked in various retail positions and also assisted with work on the family farm. Norma enjoyed playing BINGO in West Liberty, displaying antique carnival glass at the Muscatine County Fair, reading, working word searches, and colored-pencil coloring. She also loved baking and watching birds, especially cardinals and hummingbirds.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Michele) Flater of Davenport; four grandchildren, Jordan Paul Johnson, Alexis Lee Johnson, Kylie Renee Flater, and Marissa Nicole Flater; and one great-grandson, Jake Owen Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Valerie; sister, Donna; and brother, Allen.
