MaryAnn Whitt Obituary

MaryAnn (Lee) Whitt, 86, went to be with the Lord on October 28th, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 2, 1939 in Iaeger, West Viginia, MaryAnn was a devoted servant of Christ, a loving mother, grandmother and “popcorn grandmother”. She was loved by many friends and strangers through her unwavering faith and kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her mother, Martha and Step-father, Cleo. She is survived by three children, Sherry (John), David (Liana), Pamela (Brad), bonus daughters Robyn (Steve) and Karen and many grandchildren her own and ones she “adopted” along the way.

She had many trials and tribulations through life, but her miracles were many and her faith strong. One of her favorite verses, Philippians 4:13, defined her life: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’”

Who was our Mom?  She was a Worker!  She worked tirelessly to help provide for our family and volunteered the few free hours she had to the church; Church clerk, Sunday school teacher, Girls In Action leader and Potluck master.  She was an amazing baker, crochet donator, Elvis lover, roller-skater and hostess extraordinaire.  Her door was always open for everyone, any time… and be careful if you were in a waiting room with her, she may pull you into conversation and end up witnessing.

Mom spent her last years at Legacy Senior Living where she picked up a few more daughters, sons and grandchildren.  We can’t thank Legacy enough for giving her an expanded family who she cherished and were there with us to the very end.

A celebration of life will be held 11:30 A.M. at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, IA on Saturday, November 1, 2025 with visitation being held from 10:30 to 11:30.
