Steven Ruzek, 70, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch.

Steve was born November 16, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Louis and Vernetta (Crew) Ruzek. He was a 1973 graduate of West Branch High School and attended Iowa Valley Community College. On May 19, 1984, he was united in marriage to Margaret Johnson in West Branch.

For many years he was employed with Montezuma Manufacturing, retiring in 2015. He was a member of the Poweshiek County Sportsman’s Association (PCSA). Steve enjoyed shooting, was a lover of nature—especially birds—and bicycling.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Montezuma; his mother, Vernetta of West Branch; and three siblings: Greg (Jen) Ruzek of Victor, Brenda Piper of Iowa City, and Lisa (Scott) Slach of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis, in 2010 and brother-in-law, Gregg Piper.
