Robert Felix DeSpiegelaere, 91, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

Robert was born May 24, 1934 in Aitkin County, Minnesota, the son of Camiel and Agnes (Madsen) DeSpiegelaere. He attended Floodwood Community Schools and went on to serve proudly in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

On October 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Doreen Louise Gardell in St. Paul, Minnesota. For many years, Bob was employed with Sunshine Bakery in Hibbing, Minnesota. In his free time, he enjoyed baking, fishing, hunting and gardening and most important to him was his faith, family and friends.

He is survived by two daughters: Louise (James) Carlisle of Jacobsen, Minnesota, and Lori Mostoller of Seattle, Washington; his significant other, Elizabeth Farmer of West Liberty; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother Carl (Beth) DeSpiegelaere and sisters Mary Meyers and Esther Dybevik.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen; two daughters, Lisa Hjelden and Lois DeSpiegelaere; and siblings Dorothy, Rose, Caroline, Cecelia, David, Roger, John, Nancy, Richard, and James.

A private family burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Floodwood, Minnesota.

A celebration of life will be held 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the Commons at Heath Manor, 1002 N. Miller St. West Liberty.
