Obituary of Eugenia Dimas Nava
Eugenia Dimas, age 73, passed away suddenly Sunday evening, May 25, 2025, at the Lutheran Living Nursing Facility in Muscatine, IA. She was born November 20, 1951, in Bexar County, San Antonio, TX, the youngest child of the late Juan and Maria Dimas.
Eugenia is survived by her four children: Eugenia Cooley (James) of Muscatine, Genaro Ruiz of San Antonio, Raquel Ruiz of Davenport, and Stefani Dimas (Colin) of Muscatine. Grandchildren: Cynthia (Elder) Rivera and Estevan Rocha. Great-grandchildren: Breanna, Alessa, and Elder Rivera. Siblings: Raquel Balboa, Gloria Blancas, Jesus Dimas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Maria Dimas, her brothers-in-law, Jose Balboa and Simon Blancas, her beautiful niece, Rosario Blancas, and her late partner, Manuel Martinez (father of Stefani).
Eugenia was loved by many and lived her life exactly as she wanted; unapologetically. She approached every situation with humor and mischief. In her younger years, Eugenia loved to travel. She was incapable of staying in the same place for long and firmly believed that if you were unhappy or wanted to get away from something, there were a million other places to start over.
Eugenia had many professions in her life including migrant worker, CNA, teacher’s aide, bartender and retired from factory work at the age of 58. Eugenia was never scared to try new things and chose to learn from experience. She always kept everyone around her on their toes as you never quite knew what she was going to say next.
To say she is going to be missed is an understatement. Eugenia isn’t someone that can be easily forgotten. Even if you only met her in passing, she was sure to have left an impression.
Burial will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty, IA at 1pm on May 31, 2025.
A celebration of life will be held June 8th, 2025, 1:00 pm at Lutheran Living, 2421 Lutheran Dr. Muscatine, IA. Both the burial and celebration of life are open to all who care to attend.
