
Obituary of JoAnne "Minnie" M. Christison
JoAnne “Minnie” Christison, 94, of West Liberty, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in West Liberty. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the West Liberty Country Club, 1248 Country Heights Lane, West Liberty, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Minnie and her family.
JoAnne Margaret Sloan was born on February 24, 1931, in West Liberty, the daughter of James and Leona (Sullivan) Sloan. She graduated from West Liberty High School in the class of 1948. On February 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Keith Christison in West Liberty.
Over the years, Minnie worked at India Café, Cookie Jar, Maid-Rite, and the West Liberty School System. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Minnie found joy in playing cards, crafting, and was a member of both the West Liberty Country Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her three children: James Christison of West Liberty, Dianne (Bob) Hunter of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Donna (Steve) Howe of Nichols; grandchildren Sarah and Nick (Galayna) Christison, Rachel (Rob) Frey and Kyle Hunter; step-grandchildren Charity (Josh) Holstein and Ben Reynolds; and a great-grandson, Greyson Alatalo.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith in 2010, her son Dan in 2022, and her brother Edward "Gus."
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Simpson Memorial Home, St. Croix Hospice, and the West Liberty Rescue Unit for the compassionate care provided to Minnie.
