Obituary of Leona Gruwell

Leona Gruwell passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025.

Leona Gruwell, born in Iowa City, Iowa. Daughter of Leonard and Ida Adam's from West Liberty, Iowa. Leona grew up on her parents farm and later graduated from Springdale high school in 1954. Shortly after graduating, she married the love of her life, Edward Gruwell on February 19, 1955. She then later welcomed three beautiful children. She spent her life enjoying every moment she could with her family and her husband. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and her jigsaw puzzles.

Leona is preceeded in death by her parents (Ida and Leonard), husband (Edward Gruwell), and son (Gary Gruwell)

Leona Gruwell was survived by her two daughters (Dianne Johnson and Cherie Kelley), 6 grandchildren ; Amy (Jim) Preslicka, Melissa (Steven) Welker, Ashley (Chris) Stauffer, Ryan Miller, Abbie Gruwell, and Nicholas, 7 great grandchildren; Michael, Donna, Andrew, Elena, Courtney, Duane, and Dawson, 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, brother and sister in-law; Bob and Reta, and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
