Nancy Magdaline (Brockschink) Vincent

March 10, 1938 – February 7, 2025

Nancy Magdaline Vincent, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Nancy dedicated her life to nurturing others, whether through teaching, caring for family, or serving her community.

Nancy was born March 10, 1938, to Noble and Alice Brockschink of Norway, Iowa. She was the youngest of four girls and had many fond memories of growing up on their family farm in rural Iowa County. Nancy graduated from Norway High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). Nancy’s passion for youth development began early. As a 4-H participant, she learned leadership and service, which later led her to an incredible experience as an international exchange student through the IFYE program, spending time in Switzerland in 1961. Transportation at that time was by ship and she enjoyed her time at sea to and from Europe.

In 1963, Nancy married Gene Vincent of West Branch. Together they farmed the Vincent family farmstead while raising 2 sons, Eric and Troy. In addition to devoting herself to her family, she continued her dedication to youth as a 4-H volunteer and a Cub Scout den mother, always striving to provide guidance and support to young minds. Her love for children remained a guiding force throughout her life—whether she was lovingly caring for her nieces, nephews and grandchildren or teaching Sunday School at the West Branch United Methodist Church for many years.

She was a dedicated supporter of her family, always celebrating their achievements in sports, music, dance, and theater. Her love of nature was evident in the beautiful flower gardens she nurtured, filled with vibrant blooms that she joyfully arranged for church services and special occasions for family and friends.

Even as dementia took many of her abilities, Nancy’s spirit remained brightened by the visits of her loved ones. Her kindness, devotion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Eric (wife Janse and son Bradley) and Troy (wife Leanna, daughter Grace, and son Grant); sister, Nola Moser; brother-in-law, Robert Miller; and sister-in-law, Janet Vincent, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene, and other friends and family.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be Made to the Alzheimer's Association or Cedar County Youth Extension in her memory.

Nancy’s legacy of love, service, and compassion will continue to bloom in the lives of those she touched.
