Nichols, Iowa Mary G. Steinocher, 83, died Friday August 21, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral mass will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday August 25, 2009 at the Church of St. Mary in Nichols. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7:00 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with a rosary to follow at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nichols. A memorial fund has been established. Mary was born December 14, 1925 in Nichols the daughter of John and Louise Healey Kaalberg. She was a graduate of Nichols High School and later Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. On September 23, 1948 she was united in marriage to Vaclav “Wes” Steinocher in Nichols. Mary and Wes farmed in the Nichols area for many years, Mary also had been employed with Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City for 26 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Nichols and the Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include three daughters: Connie (Jack) Simmonds of Nichols, Judy (Gregory) Wieskamp of Aledo, Illinois and Cindy (Chuck) Knouse of Tipton. Five grandchildren: Jennifer (J.R.) Beaver, Jason Simmonds, Brian (Dixie) Wieskamp, Melissa (Josh) Hajostek and Chris Knouse, and seven great grandchildren. Sister: Patricia Matthews of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband and a brother Robert Kaalberg.
