Esther Reynolds, 96, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Simpson Memorial Home Assisted Living in West Liberty.
Esther was born March 1, 1912 in rural Linn County near Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Secrist Beach. She graduated from Marion High School in 1930. She married Carl Reynolds on January 20, 1943 near Marion. They farmed the early years of married life and moved to West Liberty in 1955 so Carl could start work at the new Walnut Grove 4X4 Plant. Carl died in 1974. Esther worked as a nurse’s aide at Hawker Nursing Home several years before retiring in 1974.
She is survived by son Gary (Chris) of Frytown, IA; grandchildren: Matt (Gina) of Cedar Rapids and Amanda of Naperville, IL, and great granddaughter: Kyra and great grandson: Jacob, both of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and infant daughter.
