West Liberty, Iowa Margaret Fankhauser, 92, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2017 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will held 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Memory Garden Cemetery, Iowa City. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established. Margaret was born March 6, 1924 the daughter of George and Hazel Duncan Yerington. On May 10, 1942 she was united in marriage to Carroll Fankhauser in West Branch. She had been a homemaker for many years and retired from Procter and Gamble in Iowa City after 16 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, walking, helping with Meals on Wheels and had volunteered at the Simpson Memorial Home prior to moving there. Survivors include two sons: Dick (Betty) Fankhauser of Muscatine; Rick Fankhauser of Muscatine, four daughters: Rita Bates of Muscatine; Joy (Jim) Hayslett of Iowa City; Karen (Scott) Heick of West Liberty; Kelly (Jerry) Bridenstine of West Liberty. 21 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carrol, two sons Carroll Eugene and Ronald James, daughter in law: Patricia Fankhauser, son in law Jim Bates, brothers and sisters: Marvin, Betty, Daniel, Bob, Archie, Ruth and 3 infant sisters.
