Atalissa, Iowa Lester L. Taylor Jr., 73, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 until 11 at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 N. Calhoun Street, with funeral service to follow at 11. Burial immediately following the service will be in the Overman Cemetery, Atalissa. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established. Lester was born April 27, 1943 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Lester Sr. and Evelyn (Glines) Taylor. He served in the US Army, stationed in Hawaii. On April 19, 1988 he was united in marriage to Shirley Messner in Davenport. Lester has worked in the tire business nearly all his life. Currently Lester and Shirley own and operate LS Midwest Sales. He enjoyed motorcycles, country music, western clothing, his family, being outdoors and always found himself tinkering. Les was a very kind and gentle soul, he had a loving and generous heart and always found the best in everyone. Survivors include his wife Shirley of Atalissa, six children: Lester III "Buddy" (Dee) Taylor of Wilton, Lisa Morales of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Susan (Marvin) Honts of Muscatine, Cindy (Tom) Brown of Atalissa, Sandra (Mitch) Veen of Houghton Lake, Michigan and Dan (Lee) Messner of Forrest City, Arkansas, 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Julie Taylor and Donna Ross and brother Robert Taylor.
