North Liberty, Iowa Morris L. Putney, 73, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospice Iowa City. A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty where a visitation will be from 12:30 until service time. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com Morris was born September 1, 1942 in Henry County, Iowa. He was a US Navy veteran serving from 1964-68. On November 2, 1969 he was united in marriage to the former Donna Lemley in Wellman, Iowa. Morris had worked at the University of Iowa as a plumber/welder/pipefitter for many years retiring in 2003. He had been affiliated with the North Liberty American Legion and most recently the Solon American Legion. He enjoyed cars. Survivors include his wife Donna Putney of North Liberty, son Jeff (Amy) Putney of West Liberty and two grandchildren Brady and Miranda. Brothers and sisters: Peggy Snider of Valparaiso, Nebraska, Kenneth (Sara) Putney of Iowa City, Ardith (George) Naifeh of Alabama, Theresa (Charles) Rude of Florida, Larry (Connie) Putney of Mt. Pleasant, Tony (Nora) Putney of Indianola, Sue (Jim) Gordon of Arvada, Colorado and Tim (Judy) Putney of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Lee and Dennis.
